The earliest example of butt plugs, according to sexualhistorytour.com, is a rectal dilator used to help with headaches, insomnia, acne, insanity, and constipation and haemorrhoids.
The famous dilators were sold as a set as Dr Youngs ideal rectal dilators from 1893 to 1940. The package included several dilators increasing in sizing. They were created with a similar shape to the modern-day butt plugs we see in-store at Funtasia today. Dr Youngs products were initially made of hard rubber and were suggested to be used with Vaseline or Dr Young’s Piloment lubrication.
The dilators relaxed and stretched the rectum to help relieve constipation, among other things. Would you believe this treatment is still being used to this day?!
At Funtasia, we have a wide variety of butt plugs, some with pretty gems, ones that vibrate, and others that have little balls that move with you for extra stimulation.
When using a butt plug for the first time, you need to be careful as a lot of preparation needs to go into it to minimize pain and discomfort. When it comes to preparing to use a butt plug, the most important thing is relaxation, lubrication and, if using a plug with a lover, communication! The rectum does not self-lubricate like the vagina, and the tissue is much thinner; this is why a bucket of lubricant is ideal. Start slowly by massaging the area. (Foreplay will be a massive help if with a lover). Then you can ease your way in.
Like everything else, hygiene is a MUST, so always make sure you wash your hands and toys with a suitable toy cleaner which you can find at your local Funtasia store.
