When I told my family I got this job, my sister told me I had to sell the Lovense Lush to as many people as possible because she thought it was life-changing. I have taken that to heart, and told pretty much everyone who's bought one of those from me that story, all the while I coveted the idea of having one for myself. I finally caved. The thing that finally pushed me over the edge was the new model, the Lush 4 just spoke to me. And if I’m going to drop that much money on a toy I might as well write a comprehensive review while I’m at it.
First of all, what features does the Lush 4 have compared to the 3.

** 95% of testers reported feeling stronger vibrations. We have demos of the Lush 3 and 4 and I suppose I fall into this 95%, the vibration feels different to me, more rumbly. It's a very tiny difference, and the Lush 3 also does have an excellent motor and vibrations.
There is an OBNOXIOUS number of things you can do with Lovense toys. Like…seriously, these guys aren’t exaggerating when they talk about sex tech, the possibilities are endless. And it can all be done from the other side of the planet, that how good the remote features are.
Another key thing to keep in mind, yes this is specifically a review of the Lush 4 BUT pretty much all the features you can do with one toy, can be applied to others. So if an internal egg vibe doesn’t strike your fancy but a different style of toy is more appealing you can pretty much do all the same things with alternate toys.
Features that I have tested:
Literally just turning it on with the button and ignoring the app:
Fabulous. Honestly no notes. The vibe sits really comfortably. The motor is rock solid, with good rumbly vibrations. The shape also really hits the G-spot nicely (for me at least but remember every cooch is different)
Standard remote control with the app
Hell yea. So fun. Not really sure if it's the novelty of controlling a toy with an app rather than the buttons themselves but I really appreciated not having to mess around with toy. The app remote is incredibly easy to use. Top tip, switch it to the float setting to keep it at the setting you put it, otherwise you (or someone else) have to keep your finger on the screen. I will say though, if you are the one in the drivers seat and you don’t just set to one level it can be a bit distracting to concentrate on playing with the settings and focusing on the actual feeling. But never fear. Lovense has MANY options for unpredictable pattern/setting changes without you controlling it.
Pre set patterns
Normally I’m a pattern hater, they are always too repetitive. The app controlled Lovense however means you can get way more technical than you can with a regular vibe. You can design patterns yourself that will run for up to an hour and you can design exactly how that will go, or if you want a bit of mystery you can play vibration patterns that other people have set. This kinda replicates the whole “someone else controlling it thing” that makes this toy and this whole brand so popular for couples. Which is a very helpful feature for us singles, and a feature I was sorely lacking in the last review I did on the Playful Admirer which you can read here.
Syncing it to music:
As a Spotify user I will say it's a bit annoying that that is the only music streaming service the app doesn’t support but it's definitely not the end of the world. YouTube music or Apple music are both easy enough to use with Lovense. As far as I can tell the toy syncs to the beat of the music. Almost immediately I had to try the viral song from that one reddit post: CBAT. This was a barrel of laughs for the chronically online. Overall this is a very cool feature with a lot of fun possibilities. I haven’t tried this feature…biblically yet, (I live with housemates and if I just started playing music randomly at night they would know exactly what is up) but this is definitely a feature I can get behind.
Features I haven’t fully tested yet (so I can’t give a personal review but I can tell you about them)
Gaming:
Ok, getting more niche. Within their attached apps section, they have some mobile games. The first one I tried was a very standard tetris. Don’t get me wrong super fun and a nice retro throw back, but as far as I can tell it does not actually connect with the toys? I might just have done it wrong. But I went back to tetris a few times, and all the other mobile games seem to make the toys go off except tetris.
I’ve tried a few of the little games that are very reminiscent of Fruit Ninja or other things you were likely to find on an iPod circa 2012, and all but tetris seem to interact with the toy. Honestly, kinda fun little novelty. The Lovense website advertises more involved games with actual plots and characters but I’m not much of a gamer so I leave that in the very capable hands of some studious Twitch streamers
Sound control
The gist of this setting is that the vibrations increase depending on how loud of an environment you are in. This has super interesting potential in a loud space, think (appropriate) events or parties. Unfortunately I don’t leave the house so I haven't used that yet. You could also use it from the comfort of your own bed I’m sure, with a loud movie playing but eh, its just one of those features I’m not chomping at the bit to try.
Speed Control
Sort of along the same lines as the sound control, this one increases the intensity of the vibration depending on how quickly you are moving. I suppose the most obvious use here would be using it when you are the PASSENGER in a car (it specifically makes you tick a thing to say you are not operating a vehicle while using the toy. Seriously though, please use this feature safely) Despite being a certified passenger princess, I have no opportunity to use this feature. I don’t have any desire to use it on the train so that falls into the category of intriguing feature, just not for me.
Control Roulette
Lovense has multiple ways to have a stranger control your toy. Option 1 is control roulette. Theoretically the control roulette feature works to pair you with someone else using the app at the same time as you. I will say however every time I have tried to test that feature, it says there is no one available and to try again later.
Similar to the mobile games, under the connected apps section there is an app called “link hub” where people can put themselves forward and you can pick the toy you want to control. It also lets you each control the other's toy so it's a bit more reciprocal.
All the interactive features of Lovense are completely anonymous. You have the option to chat with your partner or not and no personal information is given to the other, and they remind you not to share details (standard internet safety practice but particularly in this area).
Alarm mode
Honestly my attempts to test this feature keep being thwarted. Finally got around to committing to keeping the toy in overnight to test this. Now this toy does sit comfortably internally, but you can definitely still feel it which in my opinion isn’t super conducive to sleep. The one night I did keep it in the whole night, I slept really terribly and kept waking up because I was anxiously waiting for it to turn on. In the end it seems like I did it wrong because I set an alarm up but didn’t actually turn it on (fully user error on my part). Tragically I think all things adjacent to somnophilia just aren’t actually in the cards for me. Can be very sexy in theory but in practice anything that interrupts my sleep can actually go away
Really not sure where to put this piece of information but its definitely worth mentioning. One evening when I was taking this baby for a test drive I thought I’d try the alarm feature the next day, but in the post nut clarity I decided against it and turned that feature off. I’m so sure the app said the toy was disconnected before I put it away in the draw under my bed. So I was VERY confused when I was woken up on my day off by this toy turning itself on and vibrating all over the place. In my confused and half awake state I figured I hadn't turned the alarm thing off, but nope…i 100% had turned it off. It also started going off at a different time than I had originally set the alarm. So I have no idea what happened there, maybe it's haunted. It hasn’t happened since but I’ve gotta admit I was a bit icked out.
Final Thoughts:
This is a super long one, but I attribute that to the absolutely huge number of things this toy can do, it wouldn't be right to not at least touch on all the features (no pun intended). Overall this toy is SPECTACULAR and I would rate it a 10/10, the only issues I had were all based on the app/my own ineptitude with technology, really the only limits with this toy is your imagination. I will probably come back to this review and add things/change things as I get more familiar with all the features, so watch this space if you're interested.
